THE SECOND PILOT COURSE WITHIN THE SMARTI PROJECT AT VSU

On February 14, the second pilot course of the Erasmus+ program for university staff and students was held at Vanadzor State University.

VSU Rector, Rustam Sahakyan met with EU experts from the SMARTI project, employees of the partner University of Liverpool Amanda Mason and Casey Beaumont, as well as local project coordinator Lusik Vardanyan. Topics pertaining to the work completed for the project and those scheduled for the near future were covered. The VSU working group included Arine Danielyan, an Assistant at the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Armine Gevorkyan, the Lecturer at the Chair of Economics, Law and Management, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Gohar Dokholyan, an Associate Professor at the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Nune Khublaryan, an Associate Professor at the Chair of Mathematics and Informatics, Candidate of Technical Sciences. The working group developed and refined lessons based on the results of the first pilot analysis of the following two EMI modules.

Module 1: Communicative approach to learning, implemented on the basis of student-centered and blended learning / ICT / e-learning,

Module 2: Assessment strategies for EMI students (formal and alternative assessment).

Arine Danielyan presented the theoretical part of the 1st module, while Armine Gevorkyan presented a practical part on the topic “Advertising in the restaurant business” using the “flipped classroom” method.

Gohar Dokholyan and Nune Khublaryan presented “Methods and strategies of formative/ integrated /blended learning” of the 2nd module. Gohar Dokholyan highlighted the theoretical aspects of formative/integrated/blended learning, presenting the advantages and disadvantages of these forms of assessment. During the course, Nune Khublaryan and Gohar Daholyan introduced participants effective and innovative ICT tools for formal and alternative assessment.

As a result of the meeting, EU representatives were satisfied with the work done so far.
