The withdrawal of American and coalition troops in 2021 shocked the international community. After a short time, the Taliban was able to take Kabul and the entire territory of Afghanistan under its control. The Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan after more than two decades. The basis of these events was the Peace Agreement signed by the Taliban and the United States in February 2020. According to this agreement, the United States and coalition forces withdraw their power from Afghanistan, while the Taliban commits to implementing counterterrorism policies, including preventing Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations from using Afghan territory to organize and carry out terrorist attacks against the United States. As for the United States, the complete withdrawal of forces showed the failure of the American policy in Afghanistan and the return of the Taliban to power after more than 20 years. The latter increased regional security problems, including not only for neighboring countries, but also for the whole world. Thus, the fight against terrorism will continue to be an important priority for the international community.
