The official opening of the EMI (English as a medium of instruction) center at VSU

The opening of EMI (English as a medium of instruction) center, which was established within the framework of the ERASMUS + KA2, CBHE “Support for Innovative Methodology, Approaches and Tools for Teaching through the Medium of English in order to improve Educational Yield, Sustainability and Internationalization” (SMARTI) project, took place at VSU.The project coordinator, Gerard Cullen from the Technical University of Dresden and Katja Ullmann, rector of VSU Rustam Saakyan, representative of Erasmus+ National Office Vard Ghukasyan, university administrative staff, representatives of professorial staff, students were present at the opening.SMARTI is an innovative project that proposes to develop, teach, test and benchmark an EMI module that involves student-centered skills development based on the modern labor market and employers’ demands for university graduates.R. Saakyan and project coordinator Lusik Vardanyan gave welcome speeches and congratulations. During the meeting, an active dialogue took place between the students and the program officials. At the end of the event, the symbolic cake was cut.The SMARTI project at VSU is coordinated by Lusik Vardanyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature (local coordinator of the project); Arine Danielyan, Assistant Professor of the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature; Gayane Kanaryan,  Assistant Professor of the Chair of Mathematics and Informatics; Anna Khachatryan, Head of the Quality Assurance Centre; Nune Khublaryan, Assistant Professor of the Chair of Mathematics and Informatics; and Gohar Dokholyan, International Relations and Grants Promotion Specialist.
