Study Visit of Vanadzor State University Employees to the University of Teramo within the Framework of the Erasmus+ ARMDOCT Project

On November 15 -17, a study visit was organized to the University of Teramo (Italy) within the framework of the Erasmus+ ARMDOCT Project (Reforming Doctoral Education in Armenia in Line with Needs of Academia, Industry and Current EU Practices).

The visit was attended by the representatives of partner universities of the project, including members of the VSU working group: Rustam Saakyan, Rector, Aren Santoyan, Project coordinator, Armenuhi Harutyunyan, Head of the Research, Innovation and Cooperation Department, Hermine Grigoryan, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Hermine Baburyan, Head of the Chair of Armenian Language and Literature.

The study visit aimed to familiarize the participants with the process of organizing doctoral education in Italy, research activity of the University of Teramo and research in the interdisciplinary domains, the process of ensuring the quality of research, etc.

During the meeting, ARMDOCT’s Armenian partners focused on the research being carried out in the universities, at which stage the doctoral education reforms are at the moment, and what obstacles exist in the process of improving doctoral education. In addition they referred to the doctoral schools which are opening in universities within the framework of the project.

Hermine Grigoryan, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, presented future undertakings of VSU, that is, to carry out international benchmarking of educational programs in order to adapt postgraduate study programs to new requirements and ensure cooperation at the national and international intra-university levels.
