Recitation Contest at the Foundation of Vanadzor State University Named after H. Tumanyan
On April 18, the Foundation of Vanadzor State University named after H. Tumanyan hosted a spring recitation contest organized as part of the university-school ties. The jury consisted of the Chairperson, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor Gayane Malumyan, also Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Hermine Baburyan.
The contest featured 40 students from grades 9 to 12 from schools and colleges in the Lori region, who recited poems and excerpts from some of the best works of the world literature.
The contest started with a musical number by Mery Sargsyan and Maria Avetisyan, who presented a fragment from the composition “Tango of Death,” accompanied by violin and piano.
At the end of the event, Gayane Malumyan, announced the names of the best participants. Thirteen students from the schools in Spitak, Kurtan, Agarak, Darpas, Katnadzor, Shaumyan, Vanadzor, and Chochkan were awarded certificates.
Third place was awarded to Lida Tunyan from Stepanavan Secondary School, Milena Papinyan from Lernapat Secondary School, Lusine Mkhitaryan from the College of Vanadzor State University, and Susanna Aslanyan from Vanadzor Secondary School No. 24.
Second place was awarded to Araksia Apresyan from Odzun Secondary School and Ashot Hayrapetyan from Stepanavan High School.
The winner of the contest was Anahit Sepkhanyan, a pupil from Stepanavan Secondary School, who performed an excerpt from Ostrovsky’s play The Storm.
