Training Course on “Emotional and Social Intelligence”

On November 12 and 14, 2025, Vanane Mirzoyan conducted training sessions on emotional and social intelligence as part of the Erasmus+ project “Development of Soft Skills in Accordance with the Requirements of the 21st-Century Labor Market at Universities in Armenia and Georgia” (DeSIRe). 36 students and 10 academic and administrative staff members attended the event. The goal of the training was to help participants recognize and manage their emotions, develop empathy, improve social skills, and establish effective interactions with others.

During the training, participants engaged in practical exercises such as character analysis from the perspective of emotional intelligence, the rapid emotion assessment tool “Mood Square,” and the “Carousel” exercise, which involved participants interacting in inner and outer circles to facilitate communication and overcome social barriers. Participants were also provided with cards outlining the main components of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. These activities promoted the development of awareness, self-regulation, social competence, and constructive interaction skills.

The training emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence for both students and staff. For teachers, it contributes to stress reduction, prevention of burnout, creation of a positive emotional environment, and development of the soft skills necessary for effective teaching. For students, emotional intelligence supports stress management, improvement of academic performance, teamwork, personal growth, and psychological well-being, enabling them to better understand themselves and others, maintain motivation, and successfully navigate challenging situations.
