Honoring the 100th Anniversary of the Famous Armenian Poet Paruyr Sevak in the Library of Vanadzor State University
On May 7, an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous poet Paruyr Sevak took place in the library of Vanadzor State University with the inscription “They live a difficult life but die an easy death”.
Father Vahan Azaryan, spiritual pastor of Saint Grigor Narekatsi Church of Vanadzor, lecturers, and students were present.
The students participating in the event discussed the poet’s life, philosophy, religious views and invaluable literary heritage, the value of which the public got only years later.
Gayane Malumyan, an expert in Sevak’s poetry, presented Sevak’s “Yeghitsi Luys” collection, and also answered all the questions of the attendees of the event, spicing everything up with Sevak tidbits.
Larisa Alaverdyan, a 2nd-year student of the “Fine Art” specialty of the University, was painting P. Sevak’s portrait during the whole event, which at the end, she gifted it to the library of Vanadzor State University.
At the end of the event, Father Vahan Azaryan gave a unique interpretation of Sevak’s works, and Professor Tereza Shahverdyan, Doctor at the Chair of Armenian Language and Literature, shared sweet memories of her meeting with Paruyr Sevak during her student years.
At the end of the event, Gohar Gaboyan, the Head of the Library, thanked all those present, as well as the organizer of the event, librarian Nare Tonoyan and speaker Gayane Malumyan.
