Actions of Azerbaijan to connect with Turkey through the Territory of Armenia in 1918-1920

The Armenian Genocide policy planned in Ottoman Turkey and carried out against Western Armenians was realized by another Turkish state, i.e. Musavati Azerbaijan. At the Batumi conference, the Caucasian Tatars fully supported the Turks and adjusted their steps to their plans. In 1918-1920, during the struggle for the realization of the Pan-Turkish plan, Turkey considered Azerbaijan as an ideological and loyal ally. The aggressive position of the Turks in the matter of Armenia was mainly determined by the fact that Armenia was an obstacle against the plans of Pan-Turkism. Azerbaijan’s goal was not only to take over Karabakh, Zangezur and expand their lands: Azerbaijan’s inspirations were greater. Its real goal is even now the same – to create a direct connection between Azerbaijan and Turkey. In the struggle against Armenia and the Armenian people, Azerbaijan simultaneously cooperated and was in federal ties with both Ottoman and nationalist, i.e. Kemal Turkish states. It was only the heroic self-defense of Zangezur that saved Armenia from the invasions of the Turkish-Musavati forces, thereby ruling out the creation of a territorial connection between Turkey and Musavati Azerbaijan.
