In the Republic of Armenia, the early 2000s were marked by a series of issues and challenges in the field of general education, including imperfect legislation, decrease in the number of students and general educational institutions, as well as difficulties in providing teaching staff, etc. The reform measures included in the state education development program were mainly aimed at solving a number of problems in this sphere.
Research has shown that many of the issues accumulated in general educational institutions were significantly influenced by the socio-economic conditions of the country. Radical changes and reforms in organizing general education have practically always presumed issues of rethinking of the education sphere and building brand new forms of educational processes, requiring not only substantial financial resources, but also modern intellectual investments.
Thus, within the framework of the article, the dynamics of the actual situation that existed in general educational institutions during the mentioned period was studied. The latter was characterized by a reduction in the number of students, educational institutions, teaching staff, as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of the measures taken to address the accumulated problems and transformations.
