Representatives of the Armenian Branch of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Vanadzor State University
On December 15, Laura Milne, Director of the Armenian Branch of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and Meline Avagyan, Program Officer, visited Vanadzor State University. The purpose of the visit was to engage students in environmental decision-making processes and to foster interest in civic participation.
Opening speech was made by Laura Milne, Director of the Armenian Office of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, and Armen Tsaturyan, Rector of Vanadzor State University. The main topic for discussion was “Model Guidelines for Effective Public Participation in a Fair Green Transition.”
This was followed by a group discussion conducted in the form of a role-playing exercise, during which participants represented various stakeholder groups with diverse interests and pressures. The aim of the discussion was to enhance understanding of real-world environmental governance perspectives, tensions, and decision-making challenges.
The session concluded with a presentation by Meline Avagyan, Program Officer of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, on “Fundamentals of Public Participation in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): National and International Frameworks,” followed by closing remarks.
