In-House Seminar on “Effective Business Communication and Negotiation Skills”

On May 14 and 16, Vanadzor State University hosted an in-house multiplication seminar entitled “Effective Business Communication and Negotiation Skills”. The course was conducted by Dr Arine Danielyan, Senior Lecturer of the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature and a member of the Erasmus+ DeSIRe project.

The training program was developed based on the experience and methodological materials acquired during a training session held at the Technological University of Dresden, Germany.

The training session was designed for two different target groups: on May 14 for VSU students, and on May 16 for the academic staff of the university, PhD students, and other educational personnel.

The primary objective of the course was to enhance participants’ communication and negotiation skills, contributing to more effective performance in business environments. The program focused on the structure of communication, the development and delivery of messages, as well as the formation of negotiation strategies.

Special emphasis was placed on developing active listening skills, interpreting cultural cues, and understanding the phased structure of successful negotiations.

The seminar included both theoretical material and practical tasks, such as role-plays, hands-on exercises, and group discussions aimed at improving skills in message construction, proposal formulation, and effectively addressing opposing viewpoints. Participants also enriched their vocabulary and learned expressions applicable to a variety of negotiation situations.

The course contributed not only to the improvement of professional competencies but also to fostering a culture of effective communication and collaboration within the VSU community.

As a result of the seminar, participants gained knowledge about types, levels, and styles of communication; mastered key principles of business communication; developed the ability to create effective content for pitching; deepened their understanding of the stages and principles of negotiation; and acquired practical skills for conducting successful negotiations.
