Ceremonial Opening of the Psychological Support Center at Vanadzor State University
On September 19, the Psychological Support Center of the Chair of Pedagogy and Psychology was officially launched at the “Vanadzor State University after H. Tumanyan” Foundation.
The event was attended by the Acting Rector of the University, Rustam Saakyan, Vice-Rectors V. Hovsepyan and L. Kostandyan, representatives of the academic and administrative staff, and students.
The Acting Rector, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Rustam Saakyan, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the center’s work, noting that it represents another significant step organized by the university in creating a comfortable, reliable, and supportive environment for both students and staff.
Hrayr Papoyan, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, welcomed the initiative to establish the Psychological Support Center, underlining its importance for improving the university environment. He noted that the university will now host a center, separate from the academic process, where experienced specialists will provide psychological services to students and staff in need of support.
Lilit Baghdasaryan, Head of the Chair of Pedagogy and Psychology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, addressed the audience, stating:
“The institution of psychological counseling within the university serves the implementation of a student-centered educational policy. Such services ensure a constructive and psycho-emotionally healthy learning environment. The mission of the newly opened center is to assist students and staff in maintaining psychological well-being and addressing personal challenges arising from life difficulties. Specialists from the Chair of Pedagogy and Psychology, with many years of experience in providing psychological support, will be involved in the counseling work. The Psychological Support Center will become one of the university’s actively developing and forward-looking units.”
According to Marianna Mazmanyan, Coordinator of the Psychological Support Center, Associate Professor, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, the main objective of the center is to provide psychological accompaniment to the educational process at Vanadzor State University. The center’s services are intended for both students and staff, aiming to further enhance the university’s supportive and developmental educational environment.
Planned activities include educational programs to increase students’ psychological literacy, prevent academic stress, and foster personal growth and professional development, as well as individual or group counseling for those experiencing psychological difficulties. Reception at the center will be conducted by specialists with extensive experience in providing high-quality psychological services, who enjoy the respect and trust of the students.
