“Avetik Isahakyan–150” Recitation Contest at Vanadzor State University
On 7 November 2025, within the framework of university–school ties, the “Vanadzor State University named after H. Tumanyan” Foundation hosted a recitation contest dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Avetik Isahakyan’s birth. The aim of the contest was to identify talented schoolchildren and to foster their interest in literature, poetry, and reading. The jury consisted of the following members:
- Associate Professor of the Chair of Armenian Language and Literature, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Gayane Papyan;
- Head of the Chair of Armenian Language and Literature, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, poet Hermine Baburyan;
- Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Vanadzor Institute of Cinema and Theatre, leading actor of the Hovh. Abelian State Drama Theatre, laureate of numerous awards, storyteller Elfik Zohrabyan.
Jury member Elfik Zohrabyan welcomed the audience, presented the evaluation criteria, and wished the participants success.
Sixty-three students from the schools of Vanadzor, Alaverdi, Stepanavan, Spitak, Tashir, and Gugark regions took part in the recitation contest.
At the end of the contest, the best performers were selected. Fourteen students received Certificates of Appreciation.
The third place was awarded to Tamara Khachatryan from Katnajur Secondary School and Susanna Aslanyan from Vanadzor Secondary School No. 24.
Second place was awarded to Lidia Tunyan, a student of Stepanavan High School, for the recitation of the poem “Mother.”
The “Vanadzor State University named after H. Tumanyan” Foundation congratulates the participants who excelled in the contest and wishes them continued success in the performing arts.
