The article discusses the main functions of adaptive physical education, as well as the importance and role of adaptation for the full social interaction of people with disabilities. The work analyzes the usefulness and main problems of adaptive physical education, reveals its shortcomings and obvious positive aspects, taking into account the opinions of specialists in this field. Real cases are also taken into account. Adaptive physical education is intended for the training of people with disabilities and limited health opportunities considering the peculiarities of their psychophysical development, individual abilities and health status and, if necessary, ensuring the correction of developmental disorders and the social adaptation of these people. The purpose of this article is to develop the physical abilities of a person with health problems, due to the use of motor characteristics and spiritual forces released by nature, for maximum self-realization in social life. Following components are distinguished in adaptive physical education: adaptive physical education, adaptive sports, adaptive physical rehabilitation. As a result of the study, we concluded that the use of adaptive physical education and sports is an effective and in some cases the only possible method of physical rehabilitation and social adaptation.
