Summary
Key words: patriotic stances, nationalist stances, neutral stances, negative stances, combatants
In the present incredibly complex stage of the development of Armenian statehood, ethno-national positions—one way to integrate the interests of the individual and society – are highly relevant. These positions are expressed by the degree of love one has for the Motherland and one’s own nation, as well as the general interest in its prosperity. This is because of the nature of the manifestation of conscious and unconscious ethno-national positions among representatives of various social and ethnic groups, as well as the social and created complex public-political realities at the level of state policy and their actualization at the individual level of servicemen. These days, it is increasingly typical to view anti- patriotic and religious positions as a specific category of social stances that are strongly tied to a person’s social identity. The primary distinction is that patriotism is associated with concern for the future of one’s own country, whereas nationalism is a stance that aims to preserve the sovereignty of one’s own country, the nation. The occurrence of neutral and negative stances among servicemen also complemented one another, and testify to the rather high level of tolerance of other ethnic groups and their representatives.
