Meeting with Artist Papag Aloyan

On March 10, the library of Vanadzor State University hosted an engaging meeting with Papag Aloyan, member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Armenia, painter and sculptor, and recipient of the Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia. The event was attended by the Rector of the University, Armen Tsaturyan, as well as faculty members, students, and staff.

The event opened by the University’s “Biayna” choir. The painter spoke about his artistic evolution, his early interest in painting, and personal philosophy of art. He also responded to the questions from the audience, sharing insightful and engaging episodes from his life and professional career.

During the event, a video presentation showed the artist’s works. The audience also had the opportunity to listen to several of Papag Aloyan’s poems. Particular attention was given to the interconnection between art and literature. P. Aloyan donated a collection of his authored poems to the University library.

Students majoring in Fine Arts programme prepared a special surprise: using various artistic techniques, they created a portrait of the artist and gifted it to him.

In 2026, Papag Aloyan marks his 75th anniversary. On this occasion, Rector Armen Tsaturyan awarded the artist with a certificate.

The event was concluded by the Head of the Library, Gohar Gaboyan, who emphasized that the library also serves as a space for the exchange of creative ideas. She expressed her gratitude to the Vanadzor Fine Arts Museum named after Carlos Abovyan and to the Chair of Arts and Sports for their effective cooperation with the library, as well as to Papag Aloyan for the engaging and inspiring meeting.
