Visit of the EU Ambassador to Vanadzor State University: Discussion Meeting Titled “The European Union for Youth: Let Us Talk About What Unites Us”

On February 20, 2026, Vanadzor State University hosted another meeting within the framework of the initiative “The European Union for Youth: Let Us Talk About What Unites Us,” implemented as part of the “EU-Armenia University Lecture Series” program initiated by the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia.

The meeting was attended by EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, Rector of the University Armen Tsaturyan, Advisor to the Rector Garegin Karhanyan, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Lusine Kostandyan, representatives of the Delegation, members of the academic staff, and students.

The discussion opened with welcoming remarks by the Rector of VSU, Armen Tsaturyan. He highly appreciated the importance of such formats for regional universities, emphasizing that integration into European educational standards and the development of international cooperation are among the University’s key strategic priorities. He also noted that such initiatives are aimed at broadening students’ knowledge and increasing their awareness of European values.

According to EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos, youth-oriented programs are designed to foster professional development and to establish international academic connections.

During the meeting, university lecturers and students had the opportunity, in an open and engaging atmosphere, to pose questions of interest to the EU Ambassador, discuss opportunities for youth engagement and academic mobility, and reflect on the current stage of EU-Armenia cooperation and its future prospects.

The event concluded with a book exchange: Ambassador Vassilis Maragos presented valuable books to the most active participants of the discussion. As a gesture of hospitality and to strengthen bilateral ties, Rector Armen Tsaturyan presented the Ambassador with a multilingual edition of Hovhannes Tumanyan’s poem “In the Mountains of Armenia” published at the initiative of the VSU Foundation.
