Victories Begin with Deep Knowledge
From October 17 to 19, 2025, an inter-university moot court competition on criminal law and criminal procedure was held under the auspices of the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University and the German Foundation for Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
Vanadzor State University was represented by the “Extra Legem” team, consisting of fourth-year Law students Satenik Andreasian, Anna Voskanian, Lusine Begjanyan, and Taron Harutyunyan, with lecturer of the Department of Economics, Law, and Management, Taron Tadevosyan, serving as the team leader.
Participants addressed key issues in criminal law and procedure, presenting arguments and discussing the positions of both the prosecution and the defense.
The competition was conducted in two stages: written and oral. In the written part, teams submitted their positions on the assigned cases, while in the oral part, they demonstrated their ability to present well-reasoned arguments persuasively. Teams participating in the oral stage included Yerevan State University (“YSU-1” and “YSU-2”), the French University in Armenia (“Քրեակետ” and “La Balance”), Vanadzor State University (Extra Legem), Northern University (Lex Team), and Shirak State University (“Guardians of Law”).
The “Extra Legem” team was awarded “Best Knowledge of Judicial Practice” in recognition of their outstanding performance.
Competitions like this provide students with practical preparation for careers in legal practice, while fostering self-confidence, teamwork, professional skills, and applied knowledge. We congratulate the “Extra Legem” team and wish them continued success in their academic and professional endeavors.
