Librarian’s Day at Vanadzor State University
On the occasion of Librarian’s Day, a festive event was held at the library of Vanadzor State University named after Hovhannes Tumanyan.
Head of the University Library, Gohar Gaboyan, delivered an opening speech: “Libraries are not only repositories of books but also comfortable spaces for knowledge and thought—places where new ideas and values are born. This day is another opportunity to appreciate the importance of libraries and to thank those who, by preserving the legacy of the past, serve the future.”
Gaboyan highlighted the vital role of librarians in today’s world, noting that in the modern era, librarians have become information specialists and unique mentors.
Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Varduhi Hovsepyan congratulated the librarians on their professional holiday, emphasizing: “A library is not only a place for preserving knowledge but also for spreading it. Through their responsible work, librarians ensure a direct link between knowledge and the reader.”
The celebration continued with an event titled “The Librarian as Speaker.”
Narine Adamyan, a librarian from the Lori Regional Library and a graduate of the university, gave a talk on “The Role of Libraries in the Development of Media Literacy.” Students actively participated in the media quiz she organized.
As part of the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the most active and diligent readers of the 2024–2025 academic year:
Yurik Ghulyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of History, PhD in History;
Gehetsik Melikjanyan, fourth-year student majoring in Armenian Language and Literature;
and Ruzanna Tavadjyan, second-year Master’s student in Public Administration.
To mark the occasion, the library also hosted an exhibition of newly acquired professional books for the 2024–2025 academic year, titled “New Pages of Science.”
