Summary
Key words: liberation, socio-cultural paradigms, economy-centered culture, globalization, information society
The article touches upon such socio-cultural preferences and paradigms of liberation, that undergo substantive transformations in the period of modernity.
Discussing the stages of development and transformation of civilization from a socio-cultural perspective, the transformations of industrial-liberal culture paradigms are analyzed in the context of the globalization process, as well as institutional regulation, formation of supranational structures and growth rates of discussions. With the acceleration of the social rhythm of life and the trends of socialization, the operational decline of the economic, political and socio-cultural mechanisms that ensure the existence of a liberal-industrial civilization begins, in particular, the formation of supranational corporations makes controversial the traditional ideas of national property, sovereignty, national economy, identity and national culture.
As a result of these changes, public life has become more diverse and fragmented, offering a wider range of preferences and opportunities for participation. The once unified culture is now breaking apart into a mosaic of alternatives. The article also explores how liberal culture is being transformed: the ‘producing individual’ is turning into a ‘consuming individual,’ the ‘national citizen’ into a ‘global citizen,’ and the ‘democracy of freedom’ is evolving into a ‘democracy of equality,’ among other shifts.
