REFLECTION OF THE THEME OF CHARITY IN THE FIELD OF HEALTH ON THE PAGES OF “SIBERIAN LIFE” (1897-1900)

In the pre-revolutionary Siberian society, many problematic issues were solved with the help of philanthropists: boards of trustees, charitable societies. The article considers the coverage of philanthropy on the pages of Tomsk’s public-political private newspaper “Siberian Life” (1897-1900).
Historical typological analysis, descriptive research, problem-thematic approach and genre analysis were used as the main methods used in the periodical.
The authors of Siberian publications spoke of real philanthropists in publicized texts and created images of philanthropists in literary works; they talked about the activities of societies, reporting on their moments of crisis as well; sought to involve townspeople in charitable activities, paying special attention to children, forming the right values in young citizens.
