Key words: regional journalism, print media, typology, “Tomsk media anomaly”

The article analyzes the development of magazine journalism in Tomsk in the 1990s-2010s, identifies the stages of growth of the thematic range of magazines, and examines the features of Tomsk magazine journalism. Poor preservation of the corpus of publications, ambiguous typological status, and thematic “intersections” are the primary issues with magazine studies. The development of the specialized magazine market in Tomsk was attributed to a combination of several elements: economic, political, professional and creative. The magazine industry mirrored the “Media Anomaly” that emerged as a distinctive aspect of Tomsk journalism in the 2000s, establishing a standard for the specialized press’s professional caliber.
