The article discusses the journalistic activities of the famous Siberian author Georgy Andreevich Vyatkin (1885-1938) during his stay in Omsk in 1918 and 1919. The article clarifies the thematic field and genre features of the texts, and reveals the features of its journalism during the specific period.

As a result, we have come to the following conclusions: most of G. Vyatkin’s texts of 1918-1919 are of a deeply social nature, they are a reaction to the events of the two revolutions of 1917 and the subsequent Civil War. In addition, writer’s focus remains on the average person, the common man, involved in the events of the historical context. G. Vyatkin’s “Omsk” differs from the previous “Tomsk” by horizontal development associated with a change in the author’s career trajectory (joining the Russian Geographical Society, creating a literary community, etc.).
