This article analyzes and refutes the false claims presented in U. Hajiyeva’s book “De-Ethnicization of Caucasian Albanians in the 19th Century,” based on Makar Barkhudaryants’ work “Artsakh”. The aim of this study is to provide a critical analysis of Hajiyeva’s interpretations and to assess the theoretical premises of Azerbaijani “Albanian studies,” including claims that identify Barkhudaryants as an “Albanian” figure and reinterpretations of the cultural heritage of Artsakh.
The scientific novelty of this work lies in its use of historical, source-based, and creative data to refute pseudo-theories. Hajiyeva deliberately ignores a key fact: Barkhudaryants dedicated his book “Artsakh” to the Catholicos of All Armenians, Khrimian Hayrik. Moreover, she distorts the Gospels, presents Armenian schools, monuments, and spiritual leaders as “Albanian,” and conceals historical events aimed at the destruction of Armenian sites.
The analysis shows that such interpretations do not withstand scrutiny from the perspective of source-based historical and factual analysis. The study emphasizes the importance of careful examination of primary sources and the protection of the cultural heritage of Artsakh.
