The study emphasizes that expressions borrowed from Latin continue to serve as important instruments in contemporary English diplomatic discourse, ensuring precision, formality, and the continuity of established traditions. Latinisms may be either adapted (sanction) or non-adapted (pacta sunt servanda, de jure), a distinction that influences their lexical and semantic characteristics. The analysis examines their lexical, semantic, and contextual diversity. Having become firmly established within the linguistic environment, Latinisms frequently undergo semantic shifts while preserving their primary semantic core and formal character, thereby ensuring clarity and precision in the discourse of international relations.
Latinisms not only contribute to the precision of terminology but also shape the functional rhetorical style of diplomatic discourse. The findings confirm their significance from linguistic, semantic, and pragmatic perspectives, underscoring their role in maintaining the stability of cultural and international communication.
