Vanadzor State University celebrates the Folk Holidays of “Barekendan” and “Maslenitsa”

VSU solemnly celebrated the folk holidays of “Barekendan” and “Maslenitsa”. The event, organized by the VSU Cultural Center, started with the informative presentation on the essence of two folk holidays along with their traditional activities. Then the celebration continued with folk dances and songs.

All the three Faculties of the university presented traditional festive tables and, as a result, Faculty of Social Sciences won in “Best Table” category.

Rustam Saakyan, VSU Rector, mentioned that the decision was rather difficult to make because all the three faculties had successfully completed the task of setting out a table with traditional dishes.

In the end a straw-stuffed effigy resembling Lady Maslenitsa was burned in the public.
