PROMOEU Summer University, organized within the Framework of “Promotion of the European Studies in Armenia – PROMOEU” Project
From May 24 to 26, the summer university took place at the “Gladzor” University of Yerevan in accordance with the action plan of the PROMOEU/Promotion of European studies in Armenia project, implemented within the Erasmus+ “Jean Monet” program. On May 27 the concluding conference took place. For three years the project was the collaboration between Slovenia’s University of Maribor, ISCOMET Institute for Ethnic and Regional Studies and Armenian educational institutions Vanadzor State University, Public Administration Academy OF the Republic of Armenia, Yerevan “Gladzor” University, Yerevan Khachatur Abovyan State Pedagogical University and “Elegy” cultural NGO.
During the summer university, Mariya Brutyan, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of Vanadzor State University, Associate Professor of the Chair of History, presented the report on the theme of “The Artsakh Issue (Karabakh conflict) and the European Union — current situation”. Lusik Vardanyan, Associate Professor of Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature presided over the May 26 session for the presentation of student essays. VSU students Arpine Hakobyan and Arsine Tumanyan (English Language and Literature, 4th year), Narek Piloyan (History, 4th year) and Anahit Matsakyan (a graduate of the university) presented their published reports.
The concluding conference of May 27 was dedicated to the discussion of the project results and possible future collaborations. Gohar Dokholyan, VSU International Relations and Grants Promotion Officer, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor presented the possibilities of implementation of European sciences in some educational programs of VSU as a result of the PROMOEU project and upcoming tasks.

At the end of the summer university, Harutyun Aleksanyan, the Armenian coordinator of the project, the head of the “Elegy” cultural NGO, handed over certificates to the participating students.
