Volunteer Appreciation Certificates

On June 21, Rector of Vanadzor State University Rustam Saakyan held a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Mariya Brutyan and five students of the faculty.

The Courses of Teaching Foreign Languages, English and Russian, implemented within the framework of volunteer activities and initiated by the Student Council of the Faculty of Humanities of VSU, have been completed. Rustam Saakyan showed gratitude towards Mariya Brutyan for implementing the useful initiative and handed the students Volunteer Appreciation Certificates.

The Rector was hopeful that volunteering would become an important step in the development of students’ professional activity. He highlighted the importance of volunteering work and wanted the example of volunteering to be contagious among students of other faculties as well.

A first-year student of the specialty “English Language and Literature” (simultaneously a third-year student of the specialty “Russian Language and Literature”) Amalia Kochinyan, a third-year student of the specialty “English Language and Literature” Kristine Manukyan, a third-year student of the specialty “English Language and Literature” Mariam Khalatyan and a first-year student of the specialty “English Language and Literature” Anahit Ghukasyan also received symbolic gifts from the Student Council of VSU.

According to the President of the Student Council of the Faculty of Humanities Sirvard Etibaryan, and its Vice-President Elmira Avetisyan, the idea of volunteer-based courses originated in September, and the process of implementation lasted until January: pre-registration of participants, recruitment of volunteers, testing, preparation of the teaching program, and then the agreement of the Dean of the Faculty and the Rector. As a result of this initiative, 20 students improved their knowledge of foreign languages.

The initiators are hopeful that the program will be continuous, as there are a number of students wanting to participate in the courses.
