Science and Sport in the Life of Gor Harutyunyan
The Rector of Vanadzor State University Rustam Saakyan met with the 3rd-year student majoring in “History”, Gor Harutyunyan, who won the title of the European champion in sambo in the 88kg weight class at the youth championship held in the Serbian city of Novi Sad.
Rustam Saakyan noted that in addition to a brilliant sports career, Gor Harutyunyan also gets higher education, delving into the origins of Armenian history. The Rector promised that the university would do everything possible to ensure that Gor’s professional and athletic successes run parallel to each other.
According to the president of the Sambo Federation of Vanadzor, Zaven Evoyan, “Gor is endowed with great willpower and usually achieves his goals.”
The champion himself has his own lucky formula: “Before you start wrestling, the most important thing is a good mood, self-confidence and, of course, faith in God.”
It should be noted that Gor Harutyunyan’s coach is the five-time world champion in sambo wrestling, Honored Coach of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Ghazaryan.
In the near future, Yerevan will host the World Sambo Championship, in which Gor Harutyunyan will take part. We wish him all the best and hope to celebrate another win!
