The Department of Cooperation and Relations operates since 2013. It was launched to ensure the external connection of the University, to support the participation of the University in international (including EU) projects on various spheres, as well as to expand the cooperation of the University with EU and CIS HEIs.

VSU is a member of a number of consortia; it cooperates with around 20 HEIs in different countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Germany, Belarus, and Poland). Since 2013, five EU-supported Tempus projects aimed at the development of higher education have been implemented at the University. Due to these projects the Life-Long Learning Center has been launched in VSU, the Master’s Academic Programs of “Education Management” and the Postgraduate Academic Program of “Environmental Protection” have been implemented. The project outcomes were directed to the modernization of University management, implementation of new educational technologies, and development of a student-centered learning environment.

Currently, the University takes part in two EU funded Erasmus+ Projects (BOOST and PRINTeL), which aim at promoting the university internationalization process and introducing innovative teaching methods.

At present, VSU has got Erasmus+ student and staff mobility agreements with 6 EU universities:

  1. Porto University, Portugal
  2. Iaci Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Romania
  3. Granada University, Spain
  4. Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany
  5. Linköping University, Sweden
  6. Poznan Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland.

Due to this cooperation, the number of VSU academic and administrative staff and students carrying out their mobility at the mentioned universities increases year by year.

The Department has made a significant effort for the implementation of a Master’s Double Degree Program with Poznan Adam Mickiewicz University within the framework of which 9 students have been granted the opportunity of studying a year at the Polish University and a year at VSU. On successful accomplishment of their studies they will be awarded a Master’s Degree with the specialization of “Mediterranean Studies”. The Program also renders it possible to implement an exchange of academic staff from both universities.

The Department of Cooperation and Relations collaborates with the Chair of Russian Language in the implementation of the activities of the Laboratory for Intercultural Communication (LabIC), which brings together 3 German, 2 Russian, 2 Belorussian, and 1 Ukrainian university.

The Department carries out consistent operations directed to the development and improvement of the University Internationalization Strategy taking into account the involvement of our country into the EHEA and the implementation of fundamental priorities of higher education.
