Susanna Tumanyan, VSU Acting Rector, congratulated four VSU students, who had become the winners of the Republican Competition “The Best Student”, at the beginning of the final session of VSU Academic Council that took place on the 26th of December, 2019.

Out of 39 members, 37 attended the Academic Council session. The agenda was approved with some changes.

 The first issue on the agenda referred to the vacancies at Vanadzor State University. Feliks Movsisyan, the Chairman of Tender Committee, introduced the selection procedure, the personal data of those candidates, who applied for the vacancies, as well as the results of the poll, to the participants of the session. As the documents of all the candidates met the requirements, the members of the Academic Council unanimously decided to conduct the elections by secret ballot.

The second issue on the agenda was related to the monitoring of students’ needs and the presentation of the results according to the faculties. Margarita Shahverdyan, the Head of VSU Quality Assurance Center, delivered a report on it. M. Shahverdyan, the Head of VSU Quality Assurance Center, suggested that the members of the Academic Council should take steps to improve teaching and learning methods and student feedback mechanisms.

Ghukas Ghukasyan, the Acting Chief Accountant of VSU, delivered a report on the annual cost estimates for 2020 of “Vanadzor State University named after H. Toumanyan” Foundation. Ghukas Ghukasyan, the Acting Chief Accountant of VSU, suggested that the participants of the session should approve the annual cost estimates for 2020 and submit it for approval of the Board of Trustees.

Aren Santoyan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, delivered a report on the organization of publishing process of scientific papers in the University. Aren Santoyan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, also introduced the scientific research grant topics to the partakers of the session that were as follows: “Linguistic Heritage of Eastern Christian Civilization in the Spiritual and Material Culture of Russia, Armenia and Belarus” and “Russian Specific Layer in Armenian Linguistic and Cultural Heritage”. A. Santoyan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, suggested that the members of the Academic Council should approve these research paper topics.

The next issue on the agenda was about making changes in the regulation of the Rectorate of “Vanadzor State University named after H. Toumanyan” SNCO. Kristine Ghazaryan, a lawyer at VSU, delivered a report on it. K. Ghazaryan, a lawyer at VSU, suggested that the partakers of the session should make the following changes: to replace the abbreviation “SNCO” with the word “FOUNDATION” in the title page, to formulate point 6 of Chapter III of the Regulation of Rectorate in this way: “the Rector, Vice-Rectors, Chief Accountant, Head of Educational-Methodological Department, Head of Economic Section, Deans, Chairman of Trade Union were the members of the Rectorate”, as well as to replace the word “Academic Secretary” with the word “Secretary”.

At the end of the session, the election results were introduced to the members of the Academic Council. All the recommended candidates were chosen.

S. Tumanyan, VSU Acting Rector, congratulated the participants of the session on the upcoming holidays, wishing them prosperity and new academic achievements.
