Lusine Vardanyan, Head of the Chair of Foreign Languages at VSU, was in Portugal for fostering the mobility of the administrative staff. A seminar was conducted in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Porto (Portugal), from June 3 to 7, in the course of which it was spoken about the ways of spurring internationalization in universities. Employees from different universities of Russia, Uzbekistan and Georgia participated in the course.

On the first day of the course, the partakers shared their experience of internationalization with others. Lusine Vardanyan partook in a seminar on intercultural communication during her visit. L. Vardanyan plans to conduct such a seminar at VSU as well.

VSU employee managed to establish ties with the representatives of the universities of Uzbekistan and Georgia within 5 working days. They came up with a suggestion of cooperation. Lusine Vardanyan met with five professors from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Porto (Portugal). L. Vardanyan is going to write an article on “Pragmatics” in the near future with one of those professors. One of the professors wanted to collaborate with Mariya Brutyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of History. They have already taken steps for carrying out the professor's desire.

Lusine Vardanyan states that Vanadzor State University has a good reputation abroad, as the academic staff of the University of Porto (Portugal) is satisfied with the academic performance of our students, studying in Portugal. The employees of VSU received a favourable reply from the employees of the University of Porto (Portugal) on the work accomplished for internationalization. Lusine Vardanyan, Head of the Chair of Foreign Languages at VSU, mentioned that the participants were astonished by the fact that each Chair at VSU had an employee who was in charge of the internationalization process of the University.

The participants managed to learn Portuguese to some extent, which helped them to communicate with foreigners.

Summarizing the working days spent in the University of Porto (Portugal), L. Vardanyan stated that the work carried out in the University for internationalization is highly appreciated abroad.
